What is a Trust?

A Trust is a legal arrangement that appoints someone to manage assets (a Trustee).

The assets are placed in the Trust by changing ownership of the assets so that the Trust rather than individuals own the assets.

Most people who create Trusts create Revocable Living Trusts and continue to own the assets in the Trust by making themselves the Trustee. However, upon death anyone else they have named as a Trustee will immediately be able to control the assets.
